Executive Director of Makeup Artistry, Lyne Desnoyers

is the nomadic polymath for whom makeup is an act of storytelling. Memories – from her time living in Canada and more recently in Paris – inform the spellbinding and ethereal looks that she creates for shows and editorials. These days, an even wider array of experiences gathered while travelling for her global role add to her inspiration, but Lyne credits her time as a dancer with originally fuelling her lifelong love of makeup. Though a master of her craft, she doesn’t believe it has to be complicated. With a few key products, a healthy glow and enough energy, she believes everybody is able to shine.

Café au Lait

“My very first purchase at a M·A·C counter was Lipstick in Mocha. I bought it simply because the girl in the shop was wearing it and I thought she looked stunning. It was the beginning of a long list of purchases. The funny thing is that each and every product I have bought since has a great story and a lovely memory to go with it.”

The Basics

“I am a strong believer in Cream Colour Base in Improper Copper. You can apply it on cheeks, eyes and lips – one product and all your makeup is done! I keep it effortless but effective. If I’m going out I will add a little more texture to my makeup: Clear Lipglass on my lips, Cremeblend Blush on my cheeks and Mineralize Foundation/Loose in the T-zone. Mineralize Blush in Dainty is a big favourite and I would recommend everyone to use Lip Conditioner (Tube). I know it’s boring, but it’s all about plumped, well-moisturized lips, ladies and gentlemen!”

Live Life

“A great souvenir of my career at M·A·C is the Life Ball in Vienna a few years ago. M·A·C Artists from over eight European countries came together to do makeup for this magnificent show to raise money for AIDS and HIV. There was a very unusual heat wave at the time and while I sweated like crazy, I had the time of my life. I never felt so proud to be working for this amazing company and to be working with so many talented people.”
